Camps
At Creative Soul
LIL’ SOUL MUSIC CAMP
AGES: 3-6 YEARS OLD
With energizing themes, these full-week camps for our youngest Soul Campers are sure to keep your kids attention and give mom a well-needed break!
This camp will introduce young campers to the world of stage performing while providing solo opportunities in the endless world of all things music. Each class will include basic musical concepts, singing, acting, and movement. Students will perform throughout the term and will have a finale showcase for parents, family and friends!
SUMMER MUSIC CAMP
AGES: 7-16 YEARS OLD
Explore your pick of keys, drums, guitar, bass, singing. Our outstanding Soul Faculty team will be teaching you how to play your instrument of choice in just one week. Soul Campers learn songs, develop songwriting skills, on-stage performance styles and what it takes to make it as a professional musician. Campers will be “teamed” into bands and then will perform at the end of the week in our state-of-the-art live stage venues for your family and friends!

After picking up the piano at age 19, Casey overcame the fear that it was too late for him to pursue music as a career. While attending UNT, sharing a piano practice room with Norah Jones, and graduating with a Hospitality Management degree, he studied and focused on classical, jazz, blues, composition and improvisation. After graduating, he had a vision to create a community where kids and adults could be encouraged while learning music, a place where people could grow and collaborate with others while having the time of their life. With a belief in lifelong learning, Casey currently builds and manages our Creative Soul Team and mission to bring families together through music.
Samantha Thomas is a singer/songwriter originally from Houston. A former certified Texas Teacher with a degree in Early Childhood Education from Texas A & M University, she grew up studying the piano and began learning the guitar and songwriting craft as a teen. After college, she moved to Nashville where she gained valuable experience in the music business and songwriting community. She’s shared the stage with such acts as Granger Smith, Stoney Larue and Bob Schneider in the Texas circuit, and performed at Nashville’s legendary Bluebird Cafe. She also lead youth bands at Bellevue Community Church under American country artist, Lionel Cartwright. Recruited as a teacher for the original Creative Soul Team in 2006, she now enjoys helping support the music schools, performing in the worship band at Hope Church, and homeschooling her three young children. Performing together in 2019 at NYC’s Steinway Hall,
Casey and Samantha are together committed to continuing to grow a music community here in Fort Worth, Southlake, and Keller. Since meeting through the music school in 2006, they have expanded their family with three kids of their own and Creative Soul to three locations in the DFW area, now offering a music experience for people of every age, from infants through adults. They are now finding fulfillment as their own kids get to experience the joy of loving and learning music in our ever growing Creative Soul Family.

WHY WE Play Music
We have had nearly 13,000 students come to Creative Soul since we first opened in 2006, which is absolutely incredible. One of the first questions I ask every parent and student who comes to our door is: Why do you want to take music lessons?
And while I could go down the list of specific reasons:
- Mom and dad want more fun family experiences and music is a great place to start.
- Samuel wants to play drums at his church.
- Chance has autism and an ear for music.
- His dad thinks learning to play will help him explore his creative side and learn to exercise patience.
- Mom wants to get Joey away from video games and excited about something else.
- Johnny wants to play guitar like his grandpa.
- Ava is looking for a fun hobby to help her grieve and process her dad’s passing.
But what does every answer I get have in common? People are looking for fulfillment.
They want to achieve something desired, promised, or predicted. They want to build character in themselves or their kids by exploring their interests and fulfilling their God-given abilities. And they want to do that through music.
So why do we play music?
We look for fulfillment and hope. We want to build character. We want to practice patient endurance. We want to help our kids develop discipline and focus in a fun way

We hope for something more, something better for ourselves, something higher to achieve. We hope for success.
How does music build character?
We bond with others who share our passion for music. We create rather than consume. We step away from the television, from the video games, from social media, and we create something special and unique that is wholly our own. We achieve a goal of getting to use our abilities for something greater: like bringing a smile to others when they hear our song, playing with purpose to celebrate life’s milestones, taking part in music opportunities at church, work or school.
We get to bond with family who learned the discipline, practice and great joy that can be found in playing music, or lovingly encourage them to not give up on their bucket list of musical goals and dreams.
We find comfort in times of hardship by sitting down to play a song and express what we’re feeling inside.
We develop skills that help us combat physical disabilities. When we have trouble focusing, have trouble sitting still, are sensitive to surrounding chaos and noise, playing music helps us cope. It helps us learn how to adapt and focus and be still.
So, is it worth it?
Is the practice, the time, the discipline, the cost, the inconvenience worth the effort? Absolutely. We’re building character. We’re finding fulfillment. We’re finding hope for ourselves and expressing that to those around us when we play
