Meet John – Bass Instructor John is a passionate and knowledgeable music educator who loves helping students discover the confidence and creativity that come from making music. He teaches electric and upright bass and piano bringing a strong foundation in music theory, performance, and musicianship to every lesson. John earned his Bachelor of Arts in Music from the University of Missouri and continued his education at the University of North Texas, where he is completing a Master of Business Administration in Music Business. His formal musical training includes performance in jazz, orchestral, chamber, and small-group settings, along with experience in music reading, transcription, and musical analysis. John believes that great music lessons should help students develop both technical skills and a deeper understanding of the music they are playing. He enjoys working with children, teenagers, and adults and can tailor lessons to each student's interests and goals—from learning the fundamentals of bass to developing technique, reading, theory, improvisation, and performance skills. His experience as a musician and educator allows him to create a supportive and encouraging learning environment where students can feel comfortable asking questions, exploring new ideas, and growing as musicians. John is excited to welcome students at our Southlake and Castle Hills/Lewisville and Colleyville locations and looks forward to helping each student build confidence, strengthen their musicianship, and develop a lifelong love of music!
