Matthew

Matthew has been playing guitar for half of his life. He started out with music playing tuba for school band and passion sparked and the flame grew larger from there. Always a lover of rock n roll, he naturally bought an electric guitar and started a band with his friends in middle school. Halfway through his high school career, Matthew became a Christian and saw a new opportunity to use his gifts in music. He started playing bass at his church and eventually became the worship leader for the youth group and played drums, guitar, and bass on Sunday mornings. From then on, Matthew knew he wanted to help people worship Christ for the rest of his life. He received a BA in Christian Studies from the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor in Belton, TX. During his time in the area, Matthew played with artists such as Adam Fischer, Hunter Rea Band, Jenna McDaniel, Oh Infamous City, and Embrace the Distance. In addition, he helped lead hundreds of worship services either leading on guitar and vocals or playing other instruments. Matthew then got married to his wonderful wife, Jessica, and moved to DFW to attend Dallas Theological Seminary for an MA in Media Arts in Worship. He is currently in that program and is making music under the name of Spirit Bear, which has an album called Moonlight EP on Spotify,iTunes, etc. He is excited to be a part of the Creative Soul team!
